About Douglas County MRC
What is the Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps?
The Medical Reserve Corps Grant was awarded to the Douglas County Health Department to create a Medical Reserve Corps in October of 2003. The Corps is designed to recruit, train, and mobilize available community members who have the background to be helpful in the event of a disaster.
The purpose of the MRC extends beyond medical emergencies. This valuable resource will also be mobilized to help participate in other community oriented ways:
- Health Education
- Community Outreach efforts through the Douglas County Health Department
- Medical assistance to sudden emergencies including but not limited to: fires, plane crashes, chemical spills, terrorism incidents, and explosions.
- Unusual disease outbreaks or suspected bioterrorism incidents that may require a massive immunization of people or distribution of preventative medicine.
Douglas County MRC Mission:
To assist medical workers in any kind of emergency that may overburden medical facilities in the Douglas County area.
